After the Soviet collapse of 1991, a girl named Eve escaped the turmoil of her home in Armenia by immigrating to New York City with her parents. Many years have passed now, and Eve supports herself by waitressing while working on her second career in photography by day. Then, seemingly out of the blue, she is forced to revisit her past when she hears news that her childhood friend Arman who stayed in Armenia, has been killed. She is sent on an assignment to photograph the violent events going on in the Caucuses and, unable to refuse such an important task in her career as a photo-journalist, she accepts the job.
